Here is my friend heading off to a barrel race event that will go from tonight through
Sunday. I wouldn't want to haul that rig or stay in it in this weather -- but more power to her and Best of Luck in the races.
Below is a before (prepainted panel to fit in a large mural image) and after mural panel I did (one of three for an ill fated horse related project -- another story) in which my friend and her mount, Raz were the inspiration.
I am currently in the design stages of a poster for a poster competition for a local art fair and wine festival. You can read about it here. I may post the preliminary drawing later tonight. I have an idea in my head, but really don't know if I can pull it off. I have done many sketches. Hope to have one finalized, if not enlarged, tonight. I have the next three days to work on it with not too many interruptions.
I LOVE that painting Angela! I love the all blue, and the all brown, but also the mix of them together. It's great!
ReplyDeleteOooh, now I'm curious. What ill fated horse mural project? That big one? who's name escapes me but I pondered doing a panel as well, and then of course didn't follow through.
ReplyDeleteTell me more. Did this panel get sent in? Or did the other two and not this one?
Thanks Linda!
ReplyDeleteI deleted my verbage about it being done this past year. I was getting my years mixed up thinking about New Year's eve, I think. At any rate, Mona, I don't think it was the one you were contemplating, but the "other one" that was happening at the same time. There was much controversy, ncluding threats of law suits about publicly discussing the problems. The problems were not made clear due to threat of law suit. Though many artists dropped out, I continued, though with reluctance, because I had committed and could not get information about the problems. After one showing with missing pieces -- the project now appears to be defunct and the coordinator was recently in the news after beubg arrested for animal cruelty/neglect. Is that enough fiasco news to statisfy your curiosity?
Wow. Didn't mean to pry but I hadn't heard any really negative press about the mural project and I wasn't even aware there was a second one. What a sad story.
